An informative, challenging, and fun series, the Profit From Speaking - Pro-Track program was designed by the Edmonton Chapter of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers to make it possible for more people to develop their skills as a professional trainer, facilitator, or keynote speaker.

Our next Profit From Speaking - Pro-Track series will be offered starting September 8th, 2012.

We do offer an Advance Registration discount to both Members and Non-Members. The regular price is:

Profit From Speaking - Pro-Track series  typically follows our regularly scheduled monthly Chapter meetings, between the hours of 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Program Outline / Objectives:

Module 1 – Define your Niche

  • Define your expertise and specialty
  • Define your niche
  • Determine ways to build credibility

Module 2 – Develop Content and Delivery

  • Determine how to select topics of greatest value to the customer
  • Determine ways to customize your topics
  • Determine ways to make your presentation entertaining and current by using examples
  • Determine the value of humour and story-telling in presentations

Module 3 – Business Management

  • Develop business goals and objectives
  • Determine how to write contracts, proposals and letters of intent
  • Determine fee structure, when to charge GST, how to get paid and what is included in “plus expenses”

Module 4 – Marketing I

  • Develop marketing strategies and goals
  • Understand the components of a marketing plan to support your business goals and objectives
  • Determine ways to sell your program; identify client benefits
  • Develop a script for making cold calls
  • Discuss value of networking, client relations and strategic alliances
  • Learn how market research can enhance your market strategy

Module 5 – Marketing II

  • Determine ways to contact meeting and conference planners
  • Discuss the components of creating your image
  • Create a personal biography/one sheet
  • Connect your topics, niche, business goals and objectives to support your marketing plan

Module 6 – Do’s and Don’ts of Visuals, Props and Technology

  • Understand your presence on stage
  • Determine how to use microphones
  • Determine how and when to use props and visuals
  • Discuss use of PowerPoint and overheads
